WebSome of the world's most devastating agricultural pests are parasitic weeds. Striga, broomrapes, dodders, mistletoes and other parasitic plants directly rob host plants of water, minerals and nutrients by invading and establishing a physiological link between the host and parasite vascular systems. WebAbstract : This book covers the recognition and biology of parasitic weeds, the precautions that need to be taken to prevent their further spread, and the combination of control measures that can be applied in order to limit their damage. Each of the major parasitic groups is dealt with separately and discussed in detail.

By far the most economically damaging parasitic weeds are members of the genera Striga (witchweeds) and Orobanche (broomrapes).
